music of the bayou

I love Louisiana, it’s people, music, food, and hospitality are great. That’s what made the story about a few people taking advantage of the B.P. oil spill, so sad. So I would like to dedicate a little song to the backbone of the bayou, the fishermen.

Come on now, don’t rock the boat. Any crooked foolishness that hurts the fisherman, will make dinner time less fun for everyone.

Now all you need is a little fiddle, accordion, washboard and bass accompaniment.

Let’s go (sweet zydeco)

You can live for free

in the land of the fisherman

ten year of water

make a hundred year of wine

Wander down, get some more

big water, blue line

get a get, make a take

drive it back into the river

Yes sir, yes please

dock it up and hurry home

take your haul back to the market

sell a dollar for a dime

Let’s go, time to get

time to get back on the wa-ter

middle man is waiting

and a shaker’s on the line

hot day and sugar night

Let’s go, let’s go

time to get back on the wa-ter

middle man is waiting

and a shaker’s on the line

You can live for free

on the back of a fisherman

eighty days of oil

from the BP lines

Wander up from the floor

brown water, big times

get a get, make a take

soak it up, and then forget her

Yes sir, yes please

tank it up and hurry home

tell the man you nearly got it

throw the fisherman a bone

Let’s go, time to get

time to get back on the wa-ter

middle man is waiting

and a shaker’s on the line
