The Butler

Just saw The Butler. There are few things as difficult to face as the mirror this movie holds up for us as a nation. Thanks, Lee Daniels.

Too many good performances to mention all the individuals. Nice work with secondary story lines by the actors too. The script allows the audience to fill in the blanks about the family between many of the plot’s turning points.

The father-son relationships were also a great reflection of each generations’ struggles, point of view and identity, set in the devastation and sacrifice that so many people suffered for the civil rights of all Americans. It is a movie that speaks as much about the last one hundred years of American history as it does about any one particular family.
